High on Bilwa Parvat, overlooking Haridwar and the silver ribbon of the Ganga, sits Mata Mansa Devi, the goddess born of the mind of Rishi Kashyap, worshipped for centuries as the fulfiller of heartfelt wishes.
History of the Temple
The temple is counted among the Siddh Peeths of Uttarakhand, forming a sacred triangle with Chandi Devi and Maya Devi. Pilgrims have climbed the hill path for generations; today a ropeway carries devotees up in minutes, with the Himalayan foothills unfolding below.
Significance of the Temple
Devotees tie a thread to the sacred tree in the temple courtyard while making their manokamna, their heart’s wish. When the wish is fulfilled, they return to untie a thread, completing the circle of prayer and gratitude. Darshan of Mansa Devi, joined with a dip at Har Ki Pauri, is the classic Haridwar pilgrimage.
