What Is a Janma Nakshatra?

Your janma nakshatra, also called your birth star, is the nakshatra the Moon occupied at the moment you were born. The zodiac is divided into 27 nakshatras of 13 degrees 20 minutes each, from Ashwini to Revati, and every nakshatra is further divided into four padas or charans. Together they form the finest layer of Vedic astrology, more precise than the twelve rashis.
