ISKCON Vrindavan (Krishna Balaram Mandir)

Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh · Krishna and Balaram

At Raman Reti, where Krishna and Balaram are said to have played in the soft sand, stands the Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir, the spiritual heart of ISKCON in India. Here the kirtan rarely stops, and the maha mantra is sung around the clock by devotees from every corner of the world.

History of the Temple

Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, opened the temple in 1975, fulfilling his wish to build a home for Krishna Balaram in the dham he loved most. His samadhi in white marble stands beside the temple.

Significance of the Temple

The temple’s three altars enshrine Gaura Nitai, Krishna Balaram, and Radha Shyamasundar. For lakhs of international devotees this temple is the gateway into Braj, and its morning program, from Mangala Aarti through Srimad Bhagavatam class, sets the model followed by ISKCON centres worldwide.
